Depression in Children Doesn’t Always Look Like Sadness
In our latest blog post, our Principal Psychologist Sulaima Samman shares insight into how depression can present in children—and why it’s often misunderstood.
In children, depression can show up as irritability, withdrawal, headaches, or school refusal. It’s often mistaken for rudeness, laziness, or “just a phase.”
If something feels off – trust your gut.
Your child isn’t being difficult—they’re trying to cope. With the right support, things can improve.
At Flying High Psychology, we help families understand what’s really going on and support children step by step.
You’re not alone—and neither are they.

Empowering Our Future:

Flying High Psychology Sponsors Sisters Youth ICMG Event.

At Flying High Psychology, we are proud to have recently sponsored the Sisters Youth ICMG event—a powerful day focused on connection, growth, and empowerment for young women in our community.
As part of our commitment to youth mental health and wellbeing, we created and distributed a custom empowerment strategies pamphlet, filled with practical tools and affirmations to help young people navigate challenges, build confidence, and support their emotional resilience.
It was an inspiring opportunity to engage with the next generation, and we’re honoured to be part of a movement that uplifts and encourages young voices.
We look forward to supporting more youth-focused initiatives in the future!

Celebrating the Heart of Every Home
Honouring Mothers at Flying High Psychology
This Mother’s Day, Flying High Psychology proudly celebrated the incredible women who nurture, support, and uplift the children in our community.
To mark the occasion, we gifted sunflowers to every mother and mother figure who attended our clinic—a small token of appreciation for the love and strength they share each day.
We recognise that "mum" can mean many things—it might be a grandmother, aunty, older sister, carer, or any woman who steps in with love and guidance. Whoever they are, their impact is immeasurable.
To all the women who hold that special role in a child’s life—thank you. You are the heart of the home, and your efforts never go unnoticed.
With love and gratitude,
The Flying High Psychology Team
